Hate is something that I always thought I should never feel. It's the whole connotation of an emotion that is the opposite of what we picture God - God of Love. Hate leads to anger, which is an emotion that I try not to have. But is hate something it is Ok to have? Does not God hate sin? Did / Does God not get angry when we sin? So I looked at this a little more in the Bible.
He “displays his wrath every day” (Psalm 7:11). Even in His anger, God’s motivation is love for people; to restore the relationship that sin destroyed. God expects us to get angry. Ephesians 4:26-27 "In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." In essence, don't let the anger consume you and become one of the deadly sins of "wrath/anger".
The thought of Hate and Love comes up in Micah - Isreal's sin leading God to anger with destruction, but then He still provides the love and mercy for those who repent and believe.
