As I study Nahum, in general God avenges sin and brings justice to those who live under His rules. What I struggle with is we all sin, so initially I pondered how am I different than Assyrians? Sin is sin right? We are all sinners. God has given us His rules, commands and guidelines of life. But we continue to not follow them (pride, envy, greed, etc.). Also we are not to judge our sins, as God will judge all of us when each of our times comes.
But here I think lies the distinction β we BELIEVE in Him, we LOVE Him, we take REFUGE with His Love and Mercy, where others do not Believe in Him. What kind of relationship do we have with God?
As with many relationships, as we go through life β they can come and pass. Looking at the Assyrians β they turned from their evil when Jonah had preached to them earlier, but as time went on, evil again returned and their relationship with God must have dissipated.
This is why it is so important to continuously have a relationship with God. I have always had a relationship with Him, but just like any relationship some are stronger than others. And like any other relationship, itβs a matter of what you put into it. So how much is each of us putting in our relationship with God? My questions in the thread are truly comments/thoughts. As each of us are continuously building our relationship with God by being part of the 12 weeks 12 prophet study.
